Zespri’s Smart Monitoring programme tracks fruit growth and development season on season. Beginning in week 2, from week 7 monitoring rounds are run fortnightly up to week 13 and then weekly monitoring round up to week 18, with results published the following week.
The programme utilises the same orchards and vines each season (where possible) so while the results may not be indicative of trends on YOUR orchard, they are a good indication of the differences between seasons. These results are really useful for telling us which season the current one might be similar to, and when and how we might expect harvest to begin.
